I am a retired school principal and teacher of Exceptional Children. In my retirement, I have learned to train puppies and dogs from Adam Witherspoon at Shiloh K9 Dog Training Services LLC. (This program is now closed.) I graduated as a Certified Dog Trainer after a 400 hour training and internship program. Since then, I have trained dogs as pets, therapy dogs, and I have coached service dog handlers with their owner-trained service dogs. I am an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator and have served on the Therapy Dog Committee for the International Association of Canine Professionals. I have attended numerous seminars and workshops on dog training since opening The Calm Canine LLC including specific courses on socialization, problem behaviors, canine-human relationships, and service dog training. I have been a Professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals for ten years now. I have trained my current dog, Jedi, a Black Lab, who holds the CGC, CGCA, CGCU, TKN and TKI, ATT, FDC, RN and RATN titles. I am actively involved in AKC Rally classes, and Companion Dog classes and have attended workshops or classes in Agility, Barn Hunt, Tracking and Scentwork with the goal of pursuing titles in these areas as well. On the horizon, Jedi and I will participate as a member of the Volhard Dog Nutrition team, “Volhard Unleashed”, at the US Canine Biathlon in Anniston, Alabama.
